Two thoughts, I'm sure not original. This person is smart enough to have serious money. That would lead one to believe that what he's done while perhaps not wise was not entirely without thought? You may not know all the motivations.

Secondly in situations like this on one hand is a your perception of what is 'right' or 'wisest' from your perspective and on the other hand the realization that if the advice is resented what is the worst case result? If you feel strongly about giving the advice and are willing to live with the worst case consequences away you go.

Good Luck in any event. After reading your blogs over the last few years I'm sure you will make a good decision.

Please tell your client of his mistake, though I would have thought him smart enough to see it himself. Could he be slyly provoking you?

The FT readers who are unfortunate enough not to be following this blog must be pitied -- the House & Home Section has lost its best contributor!

Dilemma, It is my experience that people unwittingly vote with their feet. Your client has made a choice, perhaps temporary. A lesson learned for them? Maybe, maybe not. They did not acquire a billion by making silly mistakes. Perhaps they have other motives for using a hair dresser? I think its just time to sit and wait. When in doubt, don't.
